Travel...

So it would prove to be a long trip from the outset. Leaving Manchester airport at 9pm 3rd July and arriving into Auckland at 1:15pm on 5th July! (Taking into account time difference) A trip of over 24 hours flying time. The first leg was to Dubai - and proved rather comfortable with an empty seat next to me! I only watched 1 film and 1 documentary, reading also, and trying to get some rest! The turbulence however was a bit uncomfortable, with cabin crew having to sit with seat belts on also for a 45 minute stint. A bumpy landing, and 15 minute bus trip from the plane and the vast Dubai airport was in sight!A three hour wait in Dubai saw a walk the length of the terminal to get to my gate for the next leg! A lengthy trip to Brisbane followed, but not until one hour was spent on the runway with no air conditioning on at 38degrees ( at 9am!!) More turbulence and what seemed like the LONGEST section over empty ocean. (Not fantastic when you have a fear of flying, when there is nowhere to land for thousands of miles!)Another few films watched and a good portion of time spent sleeping saw arrival in Brisbane airport.Security, a pat-down, and random explosives test later and only the Auckland flight to go! News of fog stopping flights in AKL (25 domestic flights cancelled/redirected) set my anxiety into motion, but the jet lag took over, and slept almost the whole way, only awakening for a crossing and to to fill out the needed paperwork for arrival. Finally lending in AKL to such relief. I had made it, and on my own. I am so proud of myself for making the trip and the adventure can now truly start!! Bag collection/scanning and shuttle bus followed, picking up a 3G Internet card on the way! A quick shower and out into the city in an attempt to stay awake a while longer! After terrible plane food the way, a pizza went down a treat at the harbour, and was the perfect stomach liner for a nice 11 hour sleep.I walked back to my hostel past some lovely sights at the harbour.
