The first rain of the trip was here this morning as well al woke up, and both literally and mentally cast a shadow over the group. We were meant to be outdoor rock climbing on castle rock. The rain however was too strong and only forecast to get worse and worse.
The plan was altered, and after a breakfast of toast, eggs and bacon, we set up in all our wet weather gear and many layers to head out for abseiling instead! Being much less reliant on holding on, the weather wouldn't affect us as much. The hardest part of the abseil was stepping over the edge, and after this, it was much easier to slide down slowly towards the ground on the 30ft abseil - thank goodness!!
After this, the next surprise was doing a zipline! It was so much fun, and the original freefall before the harness kicked in on the cable and you went zooming down! It was fantastic.
Back to the lodge to warm up, and the luxuries really are of use today. I A he from yesterdays activities, so It is so nice to have time for relaxation and to chill out. I think we will all relax into the night and watch a film together, with popcorn!
